Kidepo valley national park is one of the most beautiful savanah National parks in North Eastern Uganda. It’s characterized by Savanah, riverine Borusus forest on the seasonal Kidepo valley, flodd plains, Bushes and Scrubland and the short Parkland savanah. There are forests on the mountain ranges of Morungle and Lonyili. The park is drained by the seasonal Narus River in the west and the Kidepo River in the Nort-East into the the Nile system in the Sudan. The landscape varies from flat plains in Narus valley to the high Morungole ranges in the East. Giving a variety of habitants and associated wild life species. Wildlife include lions, leopards, elephant, child giraffes, buffaloes, hairlebeests, oribis, reedbucks, the bat eared forex, the lesser and greater Kudus and Cheetahs. There are many bird life and include, the lilac 7 abssynia rollers blacksmith plovers, spawinged plovers, the ground hornbills, the Koribustard, the Secretary bird, the mountain buzzards, Herons, Eggrets, and the lovely Ostrich. To the extreme northern part of the park lies the Kananarok hot spring. It’s a Park worth Visiting.
Day 1: Visit to Kidepo valley National Park
Your guide will pick you from the Hotel and drive you Northwards and have lunch enroute, with stop overs in the internally displace camps (IDPS), arriving late in the evening at Apoka park headquarters. Dinner and overnight at luxurious Apoka tented Hotel/Budget Apoka UWA Bandas.
Day 2: Game Drives
After Early coffee, your guide will lead you for a game drive on the Kakine circuit. This brings you close to the Zebras,Giraffes, the Hertebeasts: that roam the short grassland plains of the Narus valley. The Scenic view is splendid with Mt. Lotukei in the far background in the Sudan. Drive at leisure back to the camp for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, your guide will take you for the afternoon game drive along the Nagosokopire circuit. Wildlife here is plentiful and you will come in contact large herds of resident buffalos, the elephants, Hertebeasts and other antelopes as they graze on the lush forage in the Narus valley. Appreciating beautiful sunset behind the long Nyangea ranges gives you perfect opportunity for taking pictures, in the evening relax back to the Hotel /Bandas. Dinner and overnight at luxurious Apoka tented Hotel/ Budget Apoka UWA Bandas. Camping is also possible.
Day 3: Hot spring & Kidepo valley visits
After coffee, your guide will drive you to the hot spring, past a nice Lopelangoria observatory point, Kidepo river up to the Hot spring. This scenic area will bring you close to the Hot spring and observe almost the entire park, and be able to sight the ostriches as they roam the short grassy plains. If lucky, you may have glimpse of the Kuddu, an antelope that lives in dry land areas and the elussive cheetah. Come back to the camp for breakfast & lunch. After lunch have nature guided walk. Optional May hike the morungole range. This takes two days to do. Arrangements can be made for Karamojong cultural shows in the park.
Day 4: Drive to Kampala
Afterbreak fast drive back to Kampala with stop over for lunch enroute, arriving in Kampala late in evening. Transfer to the hotel and/or to the Airport for your outbound
flight back home.
